Tuesday 3rd July – 18 days

Chapter 35: Beyond The Veil
In this chapter...Lucius Malfoy demands the prophecy. Harry doesn’t know what the prophecy is but all he wants, is to get himself and his friends alive. The Death Eaters say that Harry’s vision of Sirius was just a trick, to get Harry to the Ministry, by Voldemort. Harry keeps the Death Eaters talking while he tries to think of a way of eascape. Harry tries to keep the Death Eaters talking so he can come up with a plan to get them out of there. He's surprised to find out that the orb he's holding has the secret why Voldemort tried to kill Harry on the night of his parent's death.
The six children manage to finally escape from the Death Eaters.. Harry, Neville, and Hermione are separated from Ron, Ginny, and Luna. They run through various rooms, being chased by Death Eaters. Hermione is knocked unconcious, so Harry and Neville have to carry her out. They find Ron and Ginny – they are injured from fighting the Death Eaters.Just when Harry thinks he's fighting his last battle help arrives from some of the members of the Order of the Phoenix. Sirius, Tonks, Moody, Lupin, and Kingsley rush through the door to their aid without a moment to lose.
Harry and Neville try to keep themselves alive, and help out the Order members; Harry gives Neville the prophecy to keep it from an attacking Death Eater. But as they try to make their way safely from the room, Neville's jinxed legs betray them and the prophecy smashes. In the midst of the fighting, no one else even seems to be aware of this. And then Dumbledore arrives, and it's clear the tide of battle will turn in favour of our heroes... if only Sirius and Bellatrix, who were duelling next to the veil, had bothered to notice. Bellatrix knocks Sirius backwards with a curse, and before anyone can do anything, he's fallen through the veil, never to reappear on the other side of the archway. Harry, distraught, tries to reach him, but Lupin holds him back firmly, and says in no uncertain terms what Harry fears most: Sirius is gone.

“We can still reach him – ” Harry struggled hard and viciously, but Lupin would not let go…
“There’s nothing you can do Harry…nothing…he’s gone”

Chapter 36: The Only One He Ever Feared

In this chapter... Harry wants to follow Sirius – he is only just through the veil. But Professor Lupin stops him. Sirius is gone – he’s dead. He can’t come back from the veil. Harry is incensed when Bellatrix Lestrange escapes capture and he goes after her, his mind bent on killing her in retaliation for what she did to Sirius.
Harry and Bellatrix are fighting furiously, when Lord Voldemort appearss at the Ministry entrance. He knows the prophecy is smashed, he has spent months trying to get it. Voldemort tries to to kill Harry. Just as he utters the Killing Curse Dumbledore arrives to save Harry. The magic that passes between Dumbledore and Voldemort as they duel is like nothing Harry has ever seen. Suddenly Voldemort disappears and possesses Harry, causing him unendurable pain. The headless golden statue holds Harry back, and the golden witch pins Bellatrix to the floor. Then Voldemort vanishes and Dumbledore sounds frightened for the first time. Harry's scar explodes with pain and he thinks he's dead. Voldemort possesses him and tries to get Dumbledore to kill Harry, but Harry's heart fills with emotion at the thought of dying and seeing Sirius again, and Voldemort vanishes. Meanwhile, the Atrium is suddenly full of people - Fudge is stunned, but he saw Voldemort for himself, so he manages to get over his desire to seize Dumbledore. Dumbledore outlines the situation for the Ministry officials quickly, and then sends Harry back to Hogwarts with the promise that he will join him in a half hour.

“After that, I shall need to return to my school. If you need more help from me you are, of course, more than welcome to contact me at Hogwarts, letters addressed to the Headmaster will find me”
