Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Chapter 1: The Other Minister
In this chapter... The book begins with the Prime Minister of Muggles, waiting in his office, for an important telephone call. He is having a very rough week – he is being blamed for unexpected deaths and freak hurricanes. The weather too is very unlike July – there is a chilly mist in the air, and a bridge has collapsed, without warning. His Junior Secretary, Hubert Chorley, id behaving very strangely. While he sits in his office, he is informed that Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, wishes to see him. The Prime Minister has met Fudge before – and the visits have always brought bad news. Fudge tells the Prime Minister, that the havoc his country is going through is the result of Lord Voldemort, who has returned to power. Lord Voldemort is gathering his followers again. Fudge is not the Minister of Magic any more – the new Minister is Rufus Scrimgeour. The new secretary, the Prime Minister has hired, is really Kingsley Shacklebolt, an Auror. And Hubert Chorley is reacting to a poorly performed Imperius curse, and is being sent to St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

“But for heaven’s sake – you’re wizards! You can do magic! Surely you can sort out – well – anything!”
Scrimgeour turned slowly on the spot and exchanged a incredulous look with Fudge, who really did manage a smile this time as he said kindly, “The trouble is, the other side can do magic too, Prime Minister”

At the beginning of the book, Cornelius Fudge is talking to the Muggle Prime Minister. Which member of the Order of the Phoenix has recently been found dead? Emmeline Vance

Chapter 2: Spinner's End

Snape lets them in – Narcissa begs for Snape’s help in spite of Bellatrix's distrust of Snape's true loyalties. Snape talks about his role as a Death Eater and proclaims his loyalty to the Dark Lord, even though he is still working at Hogwarts. Professor Dumbledore trusts Professor Snape totally. Narcissa is worried about Draco. Lord Voldemort has asked him to do something, what she considers impossible. Snape makes an Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa, promising that he will help Draco on his mission and protect him.

“Severus – oh, Severus – you would help him? Would you look after him, see that he comes to no harm?”
“I can try”
