Chapter 7: The Slug Club
In this chapter... Harry is convinced that Draco Malfoy has replaced his father as a Death Eater. He is unable to convince Ron and Hermione, at King’s Cross Station, before they leave for Hogwarts, Harry tells Arthur Weasley of his suspicions. Mr. Weasley doesn't seem convinced either, he promises to check out Malfoy's house. Harry shares a train compartment with Neville and Luna. Neville has got a new wand, what he got from Ollivanders just before the wand maker disappeared. Harry is attracting a lot of attention – a lot of students have been reading the Daily Prophet. At lunchtime, Professor Slughorn invites Harry and Neville to come to his compartment for something to eat. When they show up they're surprised to find the compartment full of well-connected and rich students that Slughorn has also invited. Ginny is also there – Slughorn saw her perform an impressive Bat-Bogey hex on Zacharias Smith. There is also a Slytherin – Blaise Zabini. Harry is questioned about his night at the Ministry but gives nothing away.
On his way back Harry decides to slip into Malfoy's compartment under his Invisibility Cloak to hear what Malfoy's up to. He hears a number of interesting things. When the train stops at Hogsmeade Station, Malfoy discovers Harry's hiding in there. He jinxes Harry and leaves him on the train, frozen, underneath the Invisibility Cloak with a bloody nose, and headed back towards London.

“Wrackspurt got you?” asked Luna sympathetically, peering at Harry through her enormous coloured spectacles.
“I – what?”
“A Wrackspurt. They’re invisible. They float in through your ears and make your brain go fuzzy,” she said. “I thought I felt one zooming around in here.”

What sort of wood is Neville’s new wand made of? Cherry

Chapter 8: Snape Victorious

In this chapter... Harry is trapped, nobody knows he is on the train, and it is about to return to London. Tonks however realises that Harry hasn’t got off the train and rescues him just in time. They make their way to Hogwarts. Professor Snape meets them both at the gate and wastes no time humiliating Harry for being bloody and late to the Welcoming Feast.
Professor Dumbledore gives his traditional speech at the end of the Feast, introducing Professor Slughorn as the new Potions master. Potions?! There is a murmur of confusion in the hall. Dumbledore announces that Professor Snape is going to be the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. This has been Snape’s burning ambition for many years. Harry is in shock – how could Professor Dumbledore allow Snape to take the post he has been aiming for, for so many years? Hagrid speaks to Ron and Harry. He is looking forward to them being in Care of Magical Creatures again. Harry and Ron don’t know how to tell Hagrid that they – and Hermione – will not be taking it that year.

“Professor Snape, meanwhile,” said Dumbledore, raising his voice so that carried over all the muttering, “will be taking over the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.”
“No!” said Harry, so loudly that many heads turned in his direction. How could Snape be given the Defence Against the Dark Arts job after all this time? Hadn’t it been widely known for years that Dumbledore did not trust him to do it?

Who repairs Harry’s nose and takes him to the gates of Hogwarts? Tonks
