In this chapter... The next day, The Daily Prophet announces that ten Death Eaters have escaped from Azkaban and rejoined Voldemort. This is why Lord Voldemort was so happy the night before. Also, Broderick Bode, the man who was on Gilderoy Lockhart’s ward, has died. He was sent a Devil’s Snare plant – Ron, Harry, Hermione and Ginny saw it arrive when they were visiting Professor Lockheart – and the plant strangled Mr Bode. Bode was an Unspeakable, and Harry remembers meeting him at the Ministry of Magic, when he went for his hearing. Hermione rushes off to send a letter to someone…not telling Ron and Harry what she is up to. Also, Professor Umbridge has put Hagrid on probation. Umbridge makes another Educational Decree, which bans teachers from talking about anything they are not qualified to teach.
On Valentine’s Day, Harry gpes into Hogsmeade with Cho. Before he goes, Hermione asks him to meet her at the Three Broomsticks at midday. If Harry has to bring Cho along it doesn’t matter. Cho and Harry goes to Madam Puddifoots tea-shop, a hangout for couples. Cho is not pleased that Harry is meeting Hermione in a few hours. She only wants to talk about Cedric. Harry is very uncomfortable talking about Cedric. Cho argues with Harry, and leaves him in the tea-shop. Harry heads for the Three Broomsticks.
Hermione is sitting, in the Three Broomsticks, with none other than Rita Skeeter, the gossip-spreading journalist from the Daily Prophet, and Luna Lovegood. Hermione wants Rita to write a true account of Voldemort’s return, in Harry’s word. Luna’s father is the editor of the Quibbler, and the Quibbler will be publishing Rita’s article. Harry realises this is a good opportunity to convince the world, and starts telling Rita about the Death Eaters he saw in the graveyard, the previous summer…
Rita looked as though she would have liked nothing better than to seize the paper umbrella sticking out of Hermione’s drink and thrust it up her nose.
When Harry and Cho go on their first date to Madam Puddifoot's in Hogshead, what is it decorated with for Valentine's Day? Golden cherubs and pink confetti
