Sunday 24th June – 27 days to go

Chapter 17: Educational Decree Number Twenty-Four
In this chapter... Harry feels delighted, about the secret club. Professor Umbridge has posted a large sign up, declaring that "All Student Organizations, Societies, Teams, Groups, and Clubs are henceforth disbanded." . Somehow, Umbridge must have found out about their meeting –but the Trio still plan to continue the meetings anyway. Harry is also surprised to find out that Umbridge is including Quidditch in her ban,. Angelina Johnson begs him not to get into any more arguements with Umbridge so she'll allow them to reform and continue to play.
While Harry is in History of Magic, Hedwig shows up with a letter, apparently injured. Harry immediately takes her to Professor Grubbly-Plank can take care of her. The letter is from Sirius, telling Harry that he will speak to him in the fireplace, that evening. Umbridge is inspecting Snape, during Potions, and Snape is not at all impressed. We learn that Snape has taught at Hogwarts for fourteen years. and he finds himself hard-pressed to pick which one he wants to win over the other. Harry gets to talk to Sirius for a few minutes when suddenly the unthinkable happens: a fat, ugly-ringed hand reaches through the fireplace and snatches at Sirius's head. Sirius knows all about the secret meeting at the Hogs Head – Mundungus was also there, in disguise. Sirius throughly approves of the new group – although Mrs Weasley does not. Sirius just manages to duck back to Grimmauld Place, but it's a narrow escape.

He [Ron] was only on the sixth stair when it happened. There was a loud, wailing, klaxonlike sound and the steps melted together to make a long, smooth stone slide.
